Guess we’re on an animal kick for August this year. A couple of weeks ago we posted about an alpaca ranch and now we’re going to let you know about a petting zoo. If it’s not enjoying a day on the lake with a CDA Boat Rental, petting animals is a great second choice for a family friendly activity. And this petting zoo offers some fun, unique animals for the whole family to feed, pet, and get some great pictures with. Check it out.

Big Red’s Barn Petting Zoo

They offer a year round, hands on experience with the animals, which include everything from exotic capybaras—a huge guinea pig-type from South America—to Patagonian mara which are a South American rabbit relative. They also have a mini donkey, mini pig, rabbits, wallabies, goats, sheep, and more.

Hours: Thursday through Sunday year round from 10:30AM to 5:30PM (Be aware that they stop allowing people to enter at 5pm, but if you’re already inside, they’ll let you stay until 5:30)

They’re open to the public, so no appointment is necessary, however, they also offer private party options if you’re celebrating a birthday party or other fun event.

Location: 7397 N Government Way Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815

Also be aware that no outside food is allowed for the safety of the animals but you can buy food buckets at the zoo to feed the animals. Sounds like a great photo opportunity to me!

Closed toed shoes and light jackets are recommended as they keep the barn cooler for the animals.

Check out their website for more details and contact information!

And if you are interested in a day on the lake, be sure to check out our wake surf and pontoon waterslide rentals!

Now get out there and enjoy the beautiful weather in Coeur d’Alene.
