There are all sorts of activities in the area and if you’re one of those athletic types who not only likes to boat, but enjoys running too, there are several Priest Lake races for you to choose.

TRAIL RUN- SMOKECHASER 30K September 12

This trail race honors the tradition of the old smokechasers who used to put out fires by hiking to them. It starts on the shores of Priest Lake Idaho and covers both lush forest and alpine terrian to reach an old fire lookout tower at 7200′ elevation.

You can run the full 30k and gain 4800’ or, if you like, there’s a 5 mile option that gains 400’ feet. http://www.priestlakerace.com/events/trail-run/

PRIEST LAKE MARATHON September 26, 2015

Perhaps the trail run isn’t enough for you but you still want the scenery along with the challenge. Priest Lake has a marathon coming up that’s sure to defy and delight.

Check it out:

An off-pavement adventure through the Panhandle National Forest. 25k and 50k courses provide runners options on distance while still offering trail run scenery and the challenge of the longer distance. It gives runners some of the most scenic wilderness views possible and allows you to ditch the pavement and get a trail run fix on compacted dirt roads.

Priest Lake Olympic Triathlon August 29, 2015

And if running isn’t the be all and end all of your athletic desires in a race, consider the Priest Lake Triathlon. You’re looking at 1500m swim, 40K bike course and 10K run that you can participate in individually or as a team.

Whew! All this talk of racing tires me out! Think it’s time to sit back on a boat and have a drink. Hope to see you out there.
