If you haven’t guessed it yet, Coeur d’Alene offers a plethora of different activities in a gorgeous location. Of course, we’re kind of partial to boating and water and such, but there are plenty of other choices in the area to interest you as well.

One such activity draws national attention.

Ironman 70.3

Race day for this year is fast approaching! On Sunday, June 25, Coeur d’Alene will be hosting the Ironman 70.3.

If you aren’t familiar with this race, it’s just like the Ironman, except shorter. Instead of completing two loops in each discipline, racers will only have to complete one.

That makes the swim a beautiful 1.2-mile exercise in Lake Coeur d’Alene and the bike challenge a 56-mile course. The run follows the shores of the lake for a scenic, full distance favorite.

For those competing, this makes the 70.3 a great way to prepare for the Ironman. And for those watching, the shorter course makes it more accessible for viewing.

Also, the 2017 Ironman 70.3 Coeur d’Alene is offering 75 qualifying slots to the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee this year.

Perfect Location

This race won the 2016 Athletes’ Choice Award in the Overall Swim, Overall Bike, Best Race Venue, and Best Host City Experience. Um…Wow. What a great place and way to experience early summer this year.
